Just finished BD after putting it down for a year. What the hell happened? How us it possible to fuck up this badly? Instead of the detailed, horrifying wrong ends we had in previous games, they seem like an afterthought in this one. The story becomes completely unbelievable, and don't even get me started on the technical issues. The ending was unsatisfying but I'm glad that Ayumi at least made it out. If I didn't get the book and cd with the physical version it would have been a waste. |

Admittedly, Blood Drive did leave much to be desired. I initially liked the game during my first playthrough. But after going Trophy hunting, I started to notice how slow the gameplay, story and especially the loading screens actually were. To me, as others have pointed out; the overall game feels rushed. Think the saving grace were the collectibles, like the book & CD. Still, though, I don't hate the game, but I'd still take its predecessors over it. I may be biased since I just finished it. It wasn't totally bad, Spoiler: click to toggle but the game as a whole was unable to fill the shoes of its predecessors. |

Hmm... I guess its Ayumi? She pretty much f- up everything out of proportion... but meh she's pretty desperate so i forgive that. Well, im seriously not the guy who cares for the FPS... also the loading didnt really bother me. Its not like crash bandicoot wrath of cortex long Yeah, its not perfect, im not saying you shouldnt be disappointed. But im in the rare section of "i kinda like it"... especially when im into lore itself. If there is something that i hate in BD, its the pendulum. Sure its easy after you get the rhythm but at the beginning it was insanely irritating that you need to go back to title screen till ya get sick of it. Though i wish they just made the graphics like Yomawari... the graphics are simple and cute. A step up to sprite art. Cute but the creepiness racks up to another level once the monster are appearing. You should buy yomawari + hotaru no nikki to cleans the aftertaste of BD. 2 games and Yomawari resembles CP Zero (to the point, ill believe that its a part of CP verse) youll wish that BD was like yomawari. And its one of the rare games ill go trophy hunting (except the 50 hour trophy.. youll finish everything after like 20-30 hours and there isnt any time to tell if its 50 hours already) |

Yeah I wouldn't call Blood Drive bad per say considering the mobile version fixes some issues ironically enough... FPS isn't as bad and loading time isn't either for me anyway. But, yeah it was just not as good I love Blood Drive all the same but it feels rushed there was obviously meant to be more and there were things hinting at more but it was rushed to hit that release that they had planned, the English version was rushed to hit the deadline of October as well so FPS and loading issues ensued with hilarious bugs. |

Even with those bugs, the story is what mattered to me to keep stable, but somehow the game 3d on itself...taking out the part of bugs I must say I've thought I was playing CP just like in 2d, so I was like: Spoiler: click to toggle My opinion comes: Well, for starters, Blood Drive is practically a technical disaster. Rather than the 2D sprite visuals of the previous games, the developers at Team GrisGris opted to bring Corpse Party universe into full 3D polygon-rendered graphics. Unfortunately, it’s just...so clear that they don’t really know how to make the pseudo-adventure/visual novel formula work in 3D on either a technical or a gameplay level. The graphics were a full disaster, and also the character sprites, if you see, they don't even have fingers nor full details like WE EXPECTED to see. Must also admit I dislike CP Dead Patient for the same reason, but the story still wins. Try guess: they used the engine UNITY for both. And unfortunately, I prefer UNREAL. Unreal is just better than even Unity. (In my opinion) Blood Drive certainly doesn’t do Unity any further favors. This is just an ugly game, and not in the ways the developers intended. Think they also felt happy with it? The character models are those squat little things that were all the rage around the Dreamcast era. No one uses Dreamcast anymore. It became "old". They also transformed Heavenly Host Elementary that is simultaneously overly- and under-detailed: there are some detailed textures for things like floor/wall surfaces and weird bio-growths, but the assets get recycled constantly and are placed in such a haphazard way that you can clearly see how things fail to mesh together. Even worse, the framerate starts to chug when there’s even the slightest bit of action occurring onscreen, including when text is printing (too much slow. I thought there had an option to print them faster like in Blood Covered CP) That doesn’t sound THAT bad, but a lot of this stuff is hard to see even with the flashlight on, thanks to a combination of the poor framerate and the object renders just....wth not good looking. Collision detection is also pretty abysmal: you’ll frequently run into things you thought you cleanly avoided, and get stuck on scenery that it looks like you can pass right through. Things like the trip wires don’t have a very clear hurtbox, so you can sometimes run into them (and take a lot of damage) when you’re just trying to get close enough to disarm them. That game was horrible for me to end. It's far my favourite, but from style of playing it was REALLY a disaster. So as with CP Dead Patient. The worst was a bit towards the game’s end where you need to retrieve an item in a room beside a pair of pendulous swinging guillotines. What you need to do is clear: run in when the timing is right, dodge the blades to grab the object, then time things right again to run back out. BUT OMFG I GOT SLICED MORE THAN 30 TIMES TRYING GET DAT STUPID THING BECAUSE DAT CAMERA ANGLE WASN'T JUST MAKING THINGS HARD FOR MY EYES. Seriously I said: I'M NOT GOING TO SLEEP ONCE I BEAT THOSE SHIT OF GUILHOTINES! SERIOUSLY HOW DO YOU EXPECT TO PASS WITHOUT A CLEARFUL ANGLE?! Like, seriously, just see this: Spoiler: click to toggle Also load times were like when I was playing those old games when young where took "ages". Blood Drive is not well designed. Also...Your flashlight batteries deplete over time, meaning that if you can’t figure out what you’re supposed to do you may eventually find yourself stumbling through the dark over all manner of obstacles that hurt you. I’ll just say it outright: Blood Drive is a bad game. It’s not even bad in the fascinating ways that most of the kusoge I “study” are, it’s just frustrating and completely unrewarding to play. Story wasn't as much expected and also were kinda of "poorly", but still, I liked. First: IT'S A HARD GAME, but a game that "TROLL" you all the time specially wth the places you're stepping. It's like teleporting. Yet, you're playing CPD2, for an example. You won't wish to pass through this. Also anyone that say what matters in the game is story I swear I'm going make someone produce a 3d game in that style. I study gamedesign and honestly...that game was an insult to me. Except for the history part and the DAMN-HARD-PLACES-WHERE-YOU-USED-TO-GET-STUCK-ALL-THE-TIME and flashlight going off. So my opinion is: I AGREE DEFINITELY with nopinky, except for the dissapointment in history and ending. Actually even I expected a second ending where Ayumi fails to save everyone and ended even turning the bearer of Book of Shadows. But "ALONE". Yet wth all this discurse I've made, Blood Drive keeps being my favourite game ALL thanks to story. But the developers must learn how to do a 3d game. If not, just do 2d. |

Team GrisGris isn't some big-wig AAA game developer, like Naughty Dog or Rockstar, Dead Patient and Blood Drive were GrisGris' first 3D games. Dead Patient was NOT made in Unity, it was made in the GrisGris engine, the same engine that runs Blood Covered and Repeated Fear. Literally ONE person was in charge of converting the GrisGris engine (A 2D engine originally) to 3D. That same person also had to develop the entire game himself and for just one person, he did a damn good job. I'm not saying Dead Patient is perfect, I'm just saying to give it a bit of slack. Blood Drive, however, was made in Unity. I agree that it's a mess but you have to remember that it was also their first time using Unity and you might ask "well if they don't know how to do 3D games why don't they stick to 2D?". Well, because if you constantly use 2D and never push yourself to do something new or challenging, you don't really grow as a programmer. It may be that because I love Dead Patient so much, but I think you're being too hard on it. |

Yep, but I say that their 3d should get better. Quite understandable they just started, but it honestly was a disaster. I don't guilt the team. I believe that they should have used Unreal instead, that is more practic and has better resolutions. Unity is more like for those mobile games. And also, they started CP Dead Patient chapter 1 before Blood Drive if I'm not mistaken. I also had the same problems as Blood Drive in CP Dead Patient. But was a bit more better than Blood Drive. Was easy to beat and didn't have the lacking of backgrounds neither bugs. Problem is the fans' opinion about the game. If you ask mostly will say it had a poorly story and that was a bloody ugly game. The game mostly expected and waited for some long brought dissapointment. But I still liked it. Even with their first time doing it I believe they'll need more help. Because of their "mistake", the game became almost impossible to beat, and this is what is good in games. Yet as it's a "Japanese" game, we expect more coming from them. Also, it's surprisingly they are using a program that is...errrrr..."old" to create a game. It's interesting. Agreed, but if is to create a 3d, they have to practice till they get what they want, and I believe even the team disliked their own work since they just started. I think they should had practice more their 3d during the 2d game development. Like, use the free time to study more the 3d before cause a disaster. If you see Final Fantasy, where had that lacking of background and characters style, it had "no mistakes" on game. This game stressed lots of fans unfortunately, and also stressed me during specially the guilhotine part and the part where I tried pass by Mayu. I noticed they mixed 2d and 3d on game because of the angle they used. It's like they used 2d Angle for a 3d game which isn't correct. For a first 3d, must say it was quite good. But they better start to improve before they cause a disaster that affects even the story. Blood Drive costed me to understand a bit some parts of story, and I had to read it in somewhere else to understand for an example about Sachi Shinozaki which suddenly appeared in game. Good part of the game was the insanity & Impossible mode in ending this game. Which made me bring "determination" in finish the game. I'd play again to try understand better and to pass through "sufferment". but now I wonder...when Ayumi did learn how to swim? If you notice on the "runtime" in pool she is "swimming" I died over 40000000 times trying pass through guilhotines. Poor Satoshi. Edited by Ayumi Shinozaki, March 29, 2017, 7:07 am.

Might just be me but the axes weren't too bad. I got it on the 3rd or 4th try. Out of place, absolutely, but they didn't make me want to break my vita. Also, in the encyclopedia entry for the pool, it says Ayumi took swimming lessons after she almost drowned. As for it being their first time doing 3D, that's not an excuse. They're a professional game development studio and a measure of quality is to be expected. |
